Midwives in Training
Welcome student midwives!
Congratulations on your acceptance into a program of Certified Nurse Midwifery (CNM)/ Certified Midwifery (CM), and on your continuing growth into the vocation of midwifery. The Washington State Affiliate of the ACNM is your community center for CNMs and CMs in Washington State, and is your local affiliate of the national ACNM organization. This community is for you, whether your midwifery program is physically located in Washington State, or if you are part of a distance learning program. The Washington Affiliate is a place to get connected with other midwives and students, and to work on political and professional development. We strongly encourage all students to get involved, and we look forward to meeting you.
Scholarships
Each year the WA Affiliate has awarded scholarships to support registration and travel expenses towards attending the ACNM Annual Meeting. The affiliate supports attendance to the annual meeting to increase the number, quality and diversity of leaders within the affiliate.
All applicants are judged on academic excellence, financial need and leadership potential criteria. The scholarship categories are as follows:
Student Midwife
2 scholarships for support in attending the National 2026 ACNM meeting, $1000 each.
Additional criteria
Can not be previous scholarship recipient
Applicants may apply for more than one scholarship, however they will only be considered for one award.
Current WA state ACNM member in good standing
Other Opportunities
The King County Nurses Association provides 18 scholarships annually. Apply through their website.*

Meetings
There are state affiliate meetings at least two times a year. All meetings have remote access through zoom, allowing our members to join virtually. These meetings are open to anyone interested in our affiliate. You do not have to be a member, so come check us out!
